What in the actual heck!!! This month flew by sooooo fast and Teddy turning 5 months old completely crept up on me. 5 months old just seems so BIG and he's just learning and growing and changing way too fast. He had a lot of "firsts" this month and every first is a "last" for me since he's our last baby, so it's definitely been very emotional. I'm in denial that he's no longer a newborn, even though he hasn't been for a few months haha!
We are all completely obsessed with Teddy. He is sooooooo sweet and just loves his people. He would prefer to be held all day long, so he still loves the baby carrier and loves to snuggle. He loves to watch Charlie play and just stares in amazement. He is very sensitive and gets scared pretty easily, so we have to make sure Charlie doesn't play too rough and growl around Teddy. He does the sweetest little pouty face for a few seconds before he breaks into tears. He is just so so so sweet!
As much as I've hated quarantine and being away from family and friends, it really has been nice to have a slower pace with a new baby. I was so worried about how I would manage with a brand new baby and a wild toddler out in public, and I haven't had to deal with that at all. We just get to be home together, including with Landon, just soaking up this amazing stage of life we are in with our cute boys.
Time is just going by way too fast and even though making these blog posts takes HOURS and stresses me out each month, I just try my best to capture this moment so I can remember him at this age forever. He's changing too much and way too fast!
Teddy Jack, we are so in love with you!
-At Teddy's 4 month check up he weighed 13lbs 2oz (a whole 2 pounds less than Charlie at this age!) and was 25 inches tall. He's our tall and skinny little peanut! He is mostly in 3-6 month clothes, but can still fit into 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. The doctor also prescribed Teddy with some eczema cream--he had dry patches on his shoulders and a little on his back and legs. He still has some patches on his cheeks, but we obviously have to be careful about what we put around his mouth.... He's just so drooly and spits up a lot so it's hard to keep him dry... Poor baby!
-Teddy started rolling over consistently on April 24th! He rolled for the first time on April 13th, but it was more like an accident. Now he totally knows what he's doing and I seriously couldn't stop crying. 1. Because I was just so proud of him and 2. Because he's growing up way too fast! It was like I was so happy and proud of him for rolling over but I also wished I could go back to the day before when he wasn't rolling over yet haha.
-Teddy doesn't love to rough house like Charlie did (Landon would seriously throw him up so high and Charlie LOVED it). So Landon has made a modified throwing game with Teddy where he holds him in his hands and just gently tosses him. As soon as Landon gets Teddy into position for their game, Teddy knows exactly what is going on and gets excited and smiley before Landon even starts the toss.
-Teddy is still a cuddle bug and just loves to be held! He definitely outgrew the newborn hold for the baby wrap but I learned how to do the classic hold and he's been loving that.
I always say when you hold Teddy, he holds you back. It's the cutest!!!!
-Teddy found his thumb a few days ago and it is just the cutest thing to watch him suck his thumb! It's also been really nice because when he wakes up prematurely from his nap, he's able to soothe himself back to sleep on his own without me having to run up and stick his binky in his mouth every few minutes.
-Teddy loves bath time (which is a good thing because we have to give him a bath every night to wash his stinky head and helmet). He just splashes away and will talk and talk. He's the cutest!
-Teddy tried out his jumper for the first time and seems to like it! He's just so tiny so we waited awhile to break it out for him.
-Charlie and Teddy have the cutest relationship. Teddy loves to stare at Charlie and watch him play. Sometimes he gets a little scared when Charlie is growling and pretending he's a dinosaur or whatever creature he's into that day. On April 16 Charlie got Teddy to giggle for the first time. I was bringing something down to the basement and when I came upstairs Charlie was out of breath and just squealing with excitement telling me that he got Teddy to giggle. Luckily I was able to capture it on camera again and it was seriously the best moment of my life! I can't wait to watch these cute brothers grow up together.
-Teddy had his first Easter! The Easter bunny brought him a few toys and he just looked so handsome in his fancy outfit and bunny ears.
-Teddy got a new helmet last week and it has been a pain in the bum trying to get the fit right. We had to go back to the helmet clinic 3 different times (5 hours total at the clinic and 3 hours of driving!) He's such a trooper and so patient with all of the fiddling we have to do with his head. His head ratios are right where they want them, so now we are just looking for some more growth on the top of his head. Isn't he the cutest helmet baby in the world?
-Teddy is quite chatty and has the cutest little raspy voice. He makes a baby raptor sound when he's tired and has also started blowing raspberries and making elephant noises. He just makes the cutest sounds and we love listening to all of his stories!
-Teddy is such a happy, smiley baby. It is so easy to get him to smile and giggle! I wasn't able to get Charlie to giggle until he was like 6 months old (only Landon could get him to laugh) so it's been really fun to get Teddy to giggle multiple times a day. He's just such a happy love!
-Teddy is getting better at napping which is so wonderful! He takes two small morning naps (about 30-45 min each) and then naps for a few hours in the afternoon. Then he takes a little cat nap on our evening nap and goes to bed for the night from about 9pm-9am! We are lucky to have such a good sleeper!!!
-Teddy had his first picnic outside and we put a big, floppy hat over his helmet. He loves to be outside and so do we! Thank goodness for good weather during this boring quarantine time.
-We celebrated Charlie's birthday, which will be getting its own special post. But Teddy loved having family here (a group under 10 people and missing my parents-thanks Covid) and getting lots of snuggles!
Poor Teddy!
-Teddy isn't usually a fan of tummy time, but occasionally he is really happy and will actually lift his chest off the floor. Most of the time he just lays there screaming...
-Teddy is obsessed with the TV. We don't have it on very much in front of him, but whenever we do he will crank his neck and do whatever it takes to watch. It's pretty funny!
And then of course, some random extra pictures and videos because we can't get enough of this sweet boy!
