2016 In Review.

I always love reflecting back on the year, but this year feels a little different. 2016 was obviously monumental for us. We became parents and welcomed our sweet Charlie Dean into our family. Can we ever beat that?! Landon and I keep saying how this was the best year of our lives, but I have a feeling we'll be saying that same thing this time next year. Life is just so good. It's not perfect, and of course there were plenty of hard times this year, but I like to focus on the happy moments. 2016 was full of them!

The beginning of the year was filled with anticipation waiting for Charlie's arrival. From our awesome "babymoon" to Hawaii, to the cutest baby shower in the world, to prepping furniture and washing clothes. It's also funny to think back on this time and remember that I was still puking daily! Gosh, I forget about how hard that was!

My last bump picture! My water broke the next day! :)

When my water broke on April 18th, it was the weirdest feeling... we were going to be parents in the next few hours and finally meet our baby! It was sooo surreal and soooo exciting (and SO painful!!!) Charlie was born on April 19th, and our lives and hearts were forever changed. I can't really put into words how it felt to hold him for the first time and to watch Landon become a dad. Happiest day of my life.

Transitioning into motherhood was smooth and natural. I've always wanted to be a mom, but I wasn't sure if I would know how to BE one. Landon was also a natural at being a dad and it melted my heart to see how much he loved Charlie. He couldn't even hold him without crying that first week. He also was the first person to change his diaper (other than the nurses).

SO sleep deprived and SO happy

The rest of our year was spent with experiencing all of Charlie's firsts--firsts holidays, first time swimming, first time camping, first airplane ride, first snow etc. It's really been a magical year.

It's crazy how much can change and happen in one year. I feel like a completely different person, and I am! Becoming a mom has changed my heart forever. I joked last year that my goal for 2016 was to be a mom... and I did it! Ha! That's a pretty big accomplishment, I'd say.

For 2017, I want to be a BETTER mom and a BETTER wife. I need to make some more specific goals, but my family is everything to me, and I want to do everything I can to be the best me for them.

We already have so much to look forward to for 2017... our first family vacation to San Diego, our first trip without Charlie to the Eastern Carribbean, and as sad as it makes me, I'm really am excited to watch my little baby become a toddler. It's soooo amazing to watch him learn and grow!!

I'm so grateful for our life-changing 2016 and am looking forward to all the love and memories we'll experience in 2017. Happy New Year!
