On top of these cute letters, she got me a Costco cake (mmm!!), and the book Lulu and the Brontosaurus signed by all the students! So cute! A few of the kids also brought me presents (a watercolor picture of a rainbow and the student and I standing underneath, a candle, and a plant.)

I LOVE TEACHING and will sure miss my cutie kids and amazing mentor teacher!!

But I'm also really excited to try out KINDERGARTEN this Tuesday. Wish me luck!! :)

Emotional Rollercoaster

This past week has definitely been a WHIRLWIND of emotions. I will try not to go into too much detail, just a little rundown of the week (because I never want to forget it!)
  • Monday: Landon leaves for the airport at 9 a.m. for a flight to Portland for an interview with Intel. The flight gets delayed for an hour, then another hour, then another hour, when finally at 3 p.m. they tell them the plane is broken and they need to fly in a plane from Mexico. 13 hours after arriving at the airport Landon finally leaves for Portland at 8 p.m. (not to mention during this whole time the airline thought they lost Landon's bag... which would be awesome for him to show up to an interview in his jeans and t-shirt. Luckily, his bag was in Portland) This was also my very first night without Landon since we've been married. Lots of tears were shed :(
  • Tuesday: Landon had interviews all day at Intel and they went really well. Thank goodness because Monday was a day from heck!!
  • Wednesday: I picked Landon up from the airport. WOHOO!
  • Thursday: My last day with my cute first graders and my amazing mentor teacher. Such a sad day, but they threw me a party, brought me presents and cards, and were just SO cute! So it was one of those good day/bad days. Then as soon as I got home we left for Pocatello for another interview. It was snowing like crazy and as we we touring the town, we lost control of the car, hit a curb and completely dented a rim. Yikes!
  • Friday: Landon interviewed all day while I sat in the hotel room being lazy :) His interviews all went great, but unfortunately it was snowing all day. Let's just say the drive home was very scary and we may have almost died. We are definitely being watched over. Then right after that crazy drive, Landon got an email from Intel saying they would love to offer him a JOB!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!
I couldn't be more proud of my Landon! This Intel job was the one that we were thinking just wouldn't happen because it is with one of the top companies for engineering and on top of that, the group he would be working for is their TOP group. So basically this job is the best of the best. He's so dang amazing!!! What a crazy week!

We still have NO idea what we're going to do, but I'll definitely keep you posted! :) We still have a few more interviews to go...

Us being happy :)

Thank Goodness for Google!

Well Landon had his interview in Hillsboro, Oregon today and it went really well! (This was going to be the hardest interview of them all, so I'm really proud of my smarty pants boy.)

Anyway, before I could even THINK about moving away to another city without even SEEING what it's like I obviously had to do some research....

In case you can't see it in the teeny picture... Hillsboro has a mall, and a Gap!

Hillsboro, OR... You have my stamp of approval :)

The Hair Debate

This is a picture of the very first time I ever drastically changed my hair. So funny!! I look like a different person!!

I'm getting so sick of my short, brown hair. It's only been like 2 months since my last big change and I'm already dying for another! Did I say that I hate changes? Because that's a lie. I hate most changes...but I absolutely love changing my hair :)

Long or short? Blonde or brown?

So many options....what do you think?!

P.S. Don't mind my face in the first picture, I was about to go Sky Diving and was obviously pretty stoked :)

P.P.S. Monday night=the first night of MANY upcoming nights away from my Landon :( I feel sick. He is being flown out for a total of FIVE interviews now. I'm so proud of him and can't WAIT for it all to be over so we can start making our plan. And so I don't have to sleep in a lonely, empty bed...

Goodnight and happy long weekend!!

Happy Love Day!

Just What I Needed

Last night as I was helping my mom prepare her primary lesson, I found this quote in her church bag.... and it was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. Heavenly Father definitely answers our prayers through the scriptures and words of our modern prophets, and I'm so so grateful for that!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us...If we put our trust in him, if we will pray to him, if we will live worthy of his blessings, he will hear our prayers."

-President Gordon B. Hinckley

Fear is the opposite of faith, and they both cannot coexist in our hearts at the same time. I really need to work on not allowing fear to consume me and instead having FAITH in my Heavenly Father that everything WILL work out. The key is having faith. Such a primary concept, but it takes a lifetime (or longer!) to develop. Thank goodness life is simply about progressing and not about being perfect, or else I would be in big trouble :)

Happy Sunday everyone!

Twitch

This past week my eye has not stopped twitching.

I'm not one to handle stress or change very well... and of course there are a lot of changes heading my way...hence the eye twitch.

Changes: leaving my first graders and getting a new group of kindergartners in just a few weeks, graduating college (What?! No more school?! I don't even know another way of LIFE!), potentially moving from the state where I have ALWAYS lived and the longest I've been away is two whole weeks....

Plus, I'm a PLANNER and right now our life is so up in the air. I just need a PLAN. Oh I forgot to mention, Landon now has four other places that are flying him out/paying for him to drive out for interviews. So many options. So many decisions to be made. Eeeek! Twitch, twitch, twitchity, twitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For now I'm just going to pretend I'm here:

Disneyland!

Or here:
Laie, HI

Please stop twitching left eye of mine. Everything is going to work out! You'll see.

worth it.

Reasons why teaching is hard:
  • you are standing on your feet all day
  • you are an ENTERTAINER for 6+ hours a day
  • you come home and still have 4+ hours of work to do
  • you aren't just teaching abc's and 123's... you are teaching social skills, communication skills, manners, hygiene, etc. etc. etc!!!
  • you are constantly worrying about them
  • you are going going going going going....all day.
Reasons why teaching is worth it:
  • you get to spend all day with 21 happy, smiling cutie pies
  • 21 little people look up to you and think you're cool
  • you get to watch the light-bulb turn on all day
  • you get to see the kids grow and progress everyday
  • I am suddenly an amazing writer, reader, oh and did I mention singer and artist? (only in their eyes of course!)
  • everyday is filled with little moments that make you laugh so hard you almost cry

I can't even begin to explain how amazing student teaching has been. I have been blessed with an AMAZING mentor teacher who is always boosting my confidence and who is just so positive, upbeat, and truly become a friend to me. I have also been blessed with the cutest group of kids. My heart breaks to think that in less than two weeks, I have to say bye.

Lessons I've learned from these amazing kiddos:
  • Be silly.
  • Love to learn.
  • Everyone is your friend--be kind.
Teaching is most definitely worth it.

Ecstatic.

That is EXACTLY how I feel right now. I am not even thinking about how worried I should be for my observation tomorrow.

So Landon came home today with good news. He is getting flown out to Austin, TX and Portland, OR for two interviews. Of course I was so happy for him and for us, but in the back of my head all I'm thinking about is how each interview=at least 3 nights without Landon.

I know. I'm a WIMP. But we haven't spent one night apart. And even thinking about waking up and him not being there makes me cry. I don't know how wives like my sister-in-law Brooke go six months without their husbands, but I KNOW I could NOT do that. I would literally die. No joke.

Anyway, we just found out that the company that is in Texas PAYS FOR THE SPOUSE TO COME TOO!!!!!!! I was screaming and jumping around for ten minutes (not an exaggeration). Best news of my LIFE. And we're ecstatic!

Even if he doesn't get the job, we get a paid vacation to Texas--food, flight, hotel, rental car PLUS we get to see Landon's family in Texas! Yay!!! Happy day.

Crazy to picture our future here:

Or here:

Wish us luck! Eeek!!!

P.S. Maybe if we moved to Texas, I could start saying ya'll. Maybe I'd even pick up a cute accent and I'd definitely have to work on getting bigger hair ;)

Too Funny!

For your info, I didn't watch The Superbowl because it's boring.... however, I did watch all the funny commercials on Yahoo after :)

This one by far was the funniest. I can't get over how cute that kid is! Enjoy! :)

12,965 Words Later...

...and I am DONE with my Teacher Work Sample! Boo-freaking-yah!!!!

For those of you who are not an education major at BYU, a Teacher Work Sample is basically heck. It sounds simple: design a unit, design a test, pre-test, teach the unit, post-test.... but it's much more involved than that (well obviously, because mine was 12,965 words for crying out loud!)

Thank heavens it's DONE. And I'm that much closer to graduation folks!
