Spotty

The quail egg.
So most people don't know the REAL Landon. The sweetheart. The one who saves a baby quail egg.

Meet Spotty.

Here's the story.... Yesterday my cute Landon noticed a mommy and daddy quail working on a nest right outside our house. He was SO excited that they chose our yard for their nest and that we would have baby quail running around in a few weeks! So about every 10 minutes, Landon opened the front door to check on them. It was actually pretty cute how the mommy and daddy work as a team--while one is working on building the nest, the other is on guard (and they take turns).

But last night we had a HUGE wind storm/snow storm and when we woke up this morning, the quail were gone. Landon checked the nest...and that's when he met Spotty. His mommy and daddy abandoned him, but Landon could not stand to let the egg sit outside in the cold (and possibly die)....so this is what I come home to:

Yep. Landon is incubating Spotty the egg and keeping him at a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (with my heating pad and keeping track of the temperature with the oven thermometer).

Basically Landon is my favorite person in the whole world!!!!!!!! He is the biggest sweetie and is the cutest little mommy to Spotty.

Happiness is being married to your best friend, and we are TRULY happy :)

Landon=My Hero!

I am so proud of my Landon! He is basically a stud. So here's the story. Well my car Turtle didn't pass safety or emissions. YIKES! It was going to cost us about $800 big ones to fix it up and we were STRESSING. So Landon decided he was going to fix it himself. We were a little worried, considering he has ZERO training in fixing cars, but we figured it was worth a try. So he went to Autozone and got the tool:

and the part:

The biggest problem was that the inner tie rod was broken (whatever that means!)

He worked on it all day Saturday and I was looking out the window every five seconds because I was so paranoid the jacks wouldn't hold the car up or something (I've heard horror stories, plus I'm just a paranoid person anyways).

Luckily, he did not get smashed :) Anyway, so he fixed the tie rod thingy, replaced a few bulbs, and then had the brilliant idea to replace the spark plugs (whatever they are!) and fill the car up with the nicer, more expensive gas so it would hopefully pass emissions too!

AND IT PASSED! I'm so proud of Landon! He worked so hard and figured it out ALL BY HIMSELF! He's my hero.

My New Wheels!

I WISH! But now that I have your attention... here's the real thing.

So its nothing fancy, but I am just so happy to have a car! We have been sharing Landon's '91 Paseo for awhile now but I'm going to be starting my student teaching and stuff next year so we definitely need two cars. I've been looking on KSL for the past few days now, and we stumbled upon this beauty yesterday, test drove it today, and bought it for $1,500! Not bad considering I used to spend half of that in one trip to the mall :)

This is the first car I have ever OFFICIALLY owned, so I'd like to welcome the newest member of the Richins' family, TURTLE the Tercel. Yay!
